More ghoulish side art.

/>

What the hell is this now? We're being invaded by freakish, lawn dart wielding yeti!! There's something really disturbing about shadowy figures like this. And this. I'm not sure what the point of side art is. If it's to help sell the game and attract potential players, this one is a complete failure. Because every time I see this image on the side of Space Invaders Deluxe, I want to run and warn people about the monsters in the arcade. Warning others is all I could do in this situation, because I know in my heart there's no way I could be equipped to eradicate those beasts. They look stab happy. I'm stab sad. Yeah.

Funny thing is, and I'm sure you all realize this, is that when you're actually playing Space Invaders, the aliens are kinda ... cute, really.

For comparison, I've also included this picture of another TERRIFYING SPACE DEMON that is supposed to be just a Space Invader. Apparently.

Spookiest thing this side of the Space Invaders pinball table. And I don't want to talk about that one.

Berzerk's side art totally slays.

Yeah. It's BERZERK!! It's too bad that side art is often covered by the video game next to it, but you gotta put this one on a corner. Let that shit breathe. This is one of the best side arts ever, and one of the most simple. Two tone. When you see one in real life, it's obvious that it was just spray painted on there at the factory with a couple of stencils. Anyone with a few spare minutes could easily make said stencils and tag their whole town with those menacing Berzerk robots. God damn that game was scary when I was a little kid. The HARSH buzzing noises that plague the entire game, the constant room-by-room struggle against humanoid-hating automatons, and of course, the overseer of all, that bouncing happy face of doom. It's real! And even better, its name is Evil Otto. Here he is. Looking evil.

No, that really is Evil Otto. I didn't just find some smiley and try to pass it off as Evil Otto. I have far too much respect for Evil Otto to pull some shit like that.
